Crossing The Harbor

My new commute takes me across the water every morning. While I walk sometimes I have been taking the Charm City Commuter lately. Mostly due to the high humidity.

This is a nice trip and I enjoy my boat pool friends.

Nothing To See Here...Just a Little Under Water in Baltimore

High Tide and Tons of Rain
High Tide and Tons of Rain Flooded The Inner Harbor A Little Today
Last night you probably saw some of the other photos from around Baltimore that related to the "deluge" we got on 4/30/2014.

We did get a lot of rain that is for sure. I think it varied between 3 and 5 inches in the city. As you can see there is lots to clean up at the Inner Harbor today.

Lost: Canada Goose

Canada Goose in the Inner Harbor

This Canada Goose managed to make his way to the Inner Harbor.

I have seen lots of mallards, pigeons and sea gulls but this is the first Canada Goose for me. Now, out and about at parks like Fort McHenry the geese are everywhere but in the actual harbor he caught my eye.

I Love the Tall Ships That Visit our Inner Harbor

Randstad Ship from Amsterdam
Randstad Ship from Amsterdam
This tall ship, representing Randstad, out of Amsterdam was recently visiting the Inner Harbor. I did not get time to tour the ship as I was either heading to work or excited to get home for dinner.

Catch The Spirit...Of Baltimore

Spirit of Baltimore
Spirit of Baltimore

Spring is actually here. The temperature is actually feeling like Spring. Baseball has started. The Orioles are winning half of their games.

And, The Spirit Cruises are starting to sail more often out of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. One of these days I will get invited to an event on one of the cruises.

Under Armour - Helping Keep Baltimore Clean

You can't miss these Trash and Recycling Cans
Under Armour and Baltimore City teamed up last year to place these solar powered Big Belly trash and recycling units around the Inner Harbor.

The thing I like best about them is they use the neon green to both represent the "green" initiative and to also draw your attention to the trash cans.

Stay clean Baltimore!

Visions on the Sidewalk

One of the best pieces of art to appear in Baltimore, or specifically, Federal Hill over the pas few years is on Key Highway.

This sidewalk art at the American Visionary Art Museum took a few months to complete. The paint is not quite as vibrant as it originally was but it has managed to make it through our harsh winter.

School is Closed on St. Patricks Day Kids

There is no school today for the kids at Digital Harbor High School. While it is indeed March 17th, St. Patricks Day, school is actually closed due to inclement weather for these students. I can only imagine the number of make up days the students of Baltimore City Schools will have to attend this Summer.

Digital Harbor High School

It is quiet and serene at the school this morning. Enjoy the snow day kids!

I am pretty sure Under Armour is taking over Baltimore

I have heard some rumors lately about this Baltimore takeover. Under Armour purchased Big Matty's Diner and the 2 houses next to it. Under Armour purchased the Harbor Queue space. Under Armour purchased the property at Port Convington.

I haven't confirmed any of these rumors. But I did see the new Global Headquarters the other night.

Welcome to the Neighborhood Tuscan Fresh!

On the corner of Jackson St. and Fort Ave. sits a great space for a restaurant. It has been empty for the past 3 years or so though. In the past the restaurant/bars were Ullswater Tavern (I loved this place for the 5 months it was open) Sly Fox, Soigné and Lynns.

Last week this sign went up on the window! Welcome Tuscan Fresh! P.S. Replace that awning!

St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church

In the evening, from anywhere in Federal Hill, there is a blue light guiding me home. That light is from the top of the steeple at St. Mary, Star of the Sea. This evening I am early and, while the moon is visible, the light is not visible.

McAuley Plaza, Spring is finally here...we hope

Baltimore, The Greatest City in America

I have always loved these benches. This is a new bench at the corner of Key Highway and Jackson Street. It is placed her for the Charm City Circulator stop.
